FAQs
Q. What is the difference between “hosted exchange” and doing it ourselves?
A. With hosted exchange your mailboxes are held on our central cluster of Exchange Servers alongside (but secured from) other customer’s mailboxes. Each mailbox is 100% secure.
Q. If I start with a basic small webmail account can I upgrade the space?
A. Yes, you can change your mailbox plans at anytime. Meaning you can increase capacity, add archiving, mobile devices or upgrade to having a full Outlook client whenever you like.
Q. How is the disk space allocated?
A. With some suppliers, the disk space is on a per mailbox basis. But Intercity is different! The total space purchased is shared across all of your mailboxes. For example: If you have a total of 10 mailboxes each with 300MB you’ll have a total space of 3GB spread across all of your staff.
Q. Can I access email via the Microsoft Outlook client as well as Outlook Web Access?
A. Yes, if you normally use Outlook to access your emails you can still gain access to the web client whilst anyway from your office.
Q. Can I work on my emails off-line?
A. Yes. If you’re using the full Outlook client a copy of your mails is held locally. Meaning you can, for example, read and write emails whilst on a plane. Any changes you make will be synchronised next time you connect to the Internet.
Q. Can I have Virus and Spam filtering?
A. Yes. Both virus and SPAM filtering are a standard part of all the mailboxes supplied by Intercity.
Q. Can we supply our own Domain Name?
A. Yes. You can point your MX record to our Exchange server here. Alternatively we can source and manage your domain name for you.
Q. Can I set an 'Out of Office Message' in Exchange?
A. Yes. This is done from your Outlook client.
Q. Can I share my contacts list and personal calendars with others?
A. Yes. If you have the full version of Outlook all information can be shared.
Q. Can we have common shared folders between numbers of people?
A. Yes. Shared folders can be configured on request.
